Twig Necklace with Herkimer Diamond and Garnet.
The beauty of working with metal is being able to visualize something 3-dimensional and with some practice, create it!
This short necklace is a slice of forest floor. Twig, lichen, seeds, sparkly bits and stone.
The necklace is composed of sterling silver, a 21mm rose cut Herkimer diamond with lots of character, and a 4mm faceted garnet. The necklace is created with scrap sterling and some water cast sterling cups.
The twig is 60mm long and hangs from a fine doubled chain.
Necklace length is adjustable 15-18 inches long.
The basic care for precious metals and gemstones is to avoid any harsh chemicals including swimming pools, hot tubs, even bath and shower products will change the patina on jewelry. The best way to care for your jewelry is to polish it with a soft cloth to remove oils and brighten the surface. Much of my work has a patina added to recesses or even the entire piece which will not be happy with over polishing... If you encounter issues just reach out and I will help you.
