Silk Tassel with Natural Quartz and Fresh Water Pearl.
Silk Tassel with Natural Quartz and Fresh Water Pearl.
Honestly, it's not enough to make jewelry for wearing... I love to add colorful tassels to brighten up a corner or hang from a picture frame, doorknob or lamp.
Each tassel is made from hand dyed recycled sari silks, shibori dyed silk ribbons, silk chiffon ribbons, as well as natural gemstones. Beyond that, I pull from my own hand fabricated silver and copper embellishments, lampwork glass beads, recycled parts from jewelry that customers give me and anything else that speaks to me at the time!
This tassel is 7 inches long from the sterling top to the bottom of the silks. From the top down it has specartite, kunzite, lampwork glass bead, sterling plated cap, sterling chains, freshwater pearl with natural and clear faceted quartz on sterling.
The basic care for precious metals and gemstones is to avoid any harsh chemicals including swimming pools, hot tubs, even bath and shower products will change the patina on jewelry. The best way to care for your jewelry is to polish it with a soft cloth to remove oils and brighten the surface. Much of my work has a patina added to recesses or even the entire piece which will not be happy with over polishing... If you encounter issues just reach out and I will help you.
